Tractor

This weekend has been fun, but not for our poor Sidney. She woke up with a bit of a fever on Thursday morning and got her shots an hour later, so since then, she has NOT been her happy self. It's now turned into a dry cough and a runny nose. She only wants cuddles first thing and doesn't want much to do with food at all. She has not had dinner in 3 days, breakfast was non existent today. Oh, she didn't even eat dinner! She only had a few bites of baking and that was it. Poor baby! I pray she gets over this REALLY soon!! We slept at my parents from Sat to Sun b/c we were in Langley and were to be in Cloverdale on Sunday, so we spent the night. Sidney went down around 8ish, I accidentally woke her up around 9:30/10, she was awake until 12:40 when I finally put her in the playpen in our room we were sleeping in as she was in our bed as she did NOT want to be in a different room, woke up at 3, slept with Byron until 5:30 when I moved her, woke up at 8 and didn't nap until 2. We just had to leave on time as she was not happy but fell asleep in the van and slept in her OWN bed ALL night! Yippee! It was so nice not to have to share our bed, especially when it does NOT happen very often and a squirmy toddler in the bed does NOT equal a good nights sleep.

Today I really should have spent at home with a sick toddler, but I went down to Bellingham with 3 friends to go shopping for our camping trip for this weekend. We only hit up Costco and were all surprised food didn't cost as much as we had though! Yeah! Sidney did behave for us, so that was a relief.

Byron is on a 5 day weekend, but the only day he had off was Sunday, but with both of us working off lack of sleep didn't make the best day for either of us. I did buy him a clock to put in the garage that's made on a Dato-blade, a type of blade for a table saw, etc. I gave it to him last night, so he didn't suspect I got him a thing! Anyways, today he was again working for Heppells and we've been trying to work it out that Sidney and I could come and visit him while he was driving a tractor. I almost didn't go, but when he said he was 5 minutes from home, I couldn't resist. So, off Sidney and I went to visit! We hung out for just over and hour as Sidney was getting antsy at the end (it WAS 6:30pm anyways, so she was getting tired). So, here are the pictures I took of this evening. Sidney even got to steer the tractor a bit which just put a HUGE smile on her face! Byron said when he got home later that it was a lot of fun to have her around and to share it with her. So fun to hear! I realized I didn't even get a picture of me with her, but that's OK! Another time! I told Byron that this would probably be one of the last times that we'd be able to do this as it probably wouldn't work out well with 2 kid-letts in a cab of a tractor with 2 adults, but sadly, such is life, so we stuck it out as long as we could!!

Well, I should go and get Byron's buns made for tomorrow as I have a midwife and an obstetrician appointment as well as I HAVE to work on a girl's grad dress to add straps to a strapless dress. I'm really nervous to do it as I've never done it before, but my mom gave me advise and I know it's not hard, but it's a girls only ever grade 12 grad dress and I don't want to mess it up! Ahh!! I have to finish that by Thursday as I'm camping all this weekend and she needs it by next Wed. Sigh, busy, busy, busy. AND I have to pack for camping which I'm not even going to start until this dress is done and in her house! Lets hope Sidney lets me get the dress done tomorrow. Well, catch ya'll later!

  1. Sounds fun on the tractor...
Have fun with the dress. You are so brave to do that for someone. Good work! I am sure that it will work out fine for you.

  2. What great shots of Sidney, Byron and John Deere! We all know you were there Melissa, who else would take the pictures?
All the best with the grad dress! You'll do fine! After all it's just straps you have to do, and you've done lotsa straps -- the thingy you made for tieing Sidney on a regular chair, and the snuggly-thing for driving with Sidney on the ride-on lawn-mower. You're gonna do fine!

  3. Yup, the sewing will be a great experience for you. One day you'll be the great & fabulous seamstress that everyone in Yarrow will be going to for alternations. Hmmm - perhaps that'll be a great way to make some $$ while being a SAHM!! :)

Love the tractor pix. What fun! Good to hear Byron enjoyed the visit.
