Wow. What a week we've had. So, Sidney was sick on that Thursday, and her fever seemed to have gone away on the Monday. So, thinking all was well on Tuesday, she played nicely, was in a good mood, and almost herself in the mood department. BUT, on the Wednesday morning, I was driving to Honda in Chilliwack and she threw up in the van just before I got there. What do I do?! I cleaned up best I could, good thing I always keep a pair of PJ's in the vehicle. So, I was driven in the van to Byron's work where I put her in the car seat in there, taking the dirty car seat with me too to wash it, ran some errands picking up a $.50 dress for her to wear, and as soon as I drove into the driveway at home, she threw up again, in the second car seat. So, I had to wash 2 car seats which we were lucky the sun was shining to hang them outside to dry. So, when Byron called to say he was done work, I had to load up a clean carseat into the truck and wake up a sick toddler. Oh, I felt so bad! She threw up 5 minutes from home and I really just wanted to turn around, but couldn't leave Byron at work. So, all I could do was keep driving and keep towels wrapped around her. As soon as I got to Byron's work, him and another guy looked at the truck very seriously and Byron asks me "What did you DO to the truck?" I hopped out and ran around to the side they were on and the front passenger brake was smoking and stinking. That sucked! So, we only had about 10 minutes to get to Budget Brake and Muffler before they closed as they replaced the truck brakes in January. Luckily Byron drove b/c as we drove away from the mill, the truck started to pull to the right as he was driving and we weren't sure if we would even make it to Budget and get it towed. If it had stared doing that on the freeway while I was driving would have been mightily scary at 100 km/h instead of 30 km/h. So, we get to Budget and the guy is just closing the doors. Byron gets the guy and right away he noticed the smoke coming off the wheel, so we were asked to leave the truck overnight so they could fix it as it really wasn't drivable. The crummy thing is that our van was not done yet at Honda, so we had no vehicle to drive! So, we got to use a courtesy car from Budget's neighbor which was nice, and then we found out as we were driving away the van was done, so we picked that up and went home. What a day though. Sick child, van in the shop, truck wheel smoking (it ended up being the brake callipers, so we had to pay for that sadly). Sigh. What next? So, I had to have the car back by 9am the next morning as Byron had driven the van, so of course, as I had a guy from Budget in the car on the way to the mill, Sidney threw up in the courtesy car (on herself, not on the seat) but it smelled! Oh, our poor baby couldn't keep any food or drink down for 2 whole days. I picked up some Petialite stuff for her to drink on the 2nd day just for her to drink something that was good for her and had to give it by dropper. She kept asking for more and more, but I didn't want to do too much or she wouldn't keep it in. She was just so out of it that at one point I was just in tears. It's hard as a mom to see your child so out of it and mellow. I saw her touching her ear at one point, so I finally had a thought that maybe she had an ear infection. I took her to a walk-in clinic and sure enough, she had one! So she was put on antibiotics for a week which thankfully did not react to. We were supposed to head up to Cultus Lake on Thursday to go camping with a group of friends and their kids, but because Sidney was sick, we opted to stay the night at home. We did head up to the lake that afternoon to set up our tent and join them for dinner, but headed home so we could all go to sleep. I didn't even pack anything that day anyways due to Sidney wanting to lay on me all day on the couch. It had taken me all day to fold 2 loads of laundry all she wanted to do was snuggle.
The pictures below were taken on the Friday morning. I was able to let her chill out in our bed while I got some packing done and I ended up baking a batch of cookies with her on my back. Poor Sidney!

At Cultus, Sidney did ALOT of sleeping on the Friday, was more of herself on Saturday, and so I figured on Sunday morning I'd give her a bit of milk. Big mistake! She ended up throwing up, then again at lunch time. Byron and I ended up staying at our own house on Sunday afternoon instead of heading to church as Sidney slept on Byron for an hour and a half. Monday she seemed to be herself again, playing with the other kids instead of sitting on us. Unfortunately, C (2 yrs old) got sick that morning and was throwing up ALL day, and that night, A (14 months old) got sick that night, so instead of packing some stuff for the guys to take home and us girls on the Tuesday morning, we decided to pack up all our stuff and all of us headed home that night. During the night L (a mom) got sick, and all day Monday R (a dad) wasn't feeling well, so thanks to Sidney, 4 people got sick! How were we supposed to know that she was contagious! We just figured it was all due to her ear infection. Byron and I felt really bad about it due to the fact that it was hard enough to see our baby sick for 2 days then we have to see C sick on the Monday, not doing anything but sleeping and throwing up. So, sorry again guys!!!!
I didn't end up getting any pictures at all of the entire camping trip. It was nice and relaxing besides Sidney at times. I didn't go swimming at all, Byron did once, but we just relaxed around the campsite pretty well the entire time as kids had to nap. Byron ended up getting the Monday off which was supposed to be a boating day, but due to the fact that all our tents were drenched on Sunday due to all the rain we had, Monday didn't turn out to be nice either the boat was told not to come. It only rained in the morning, but it was nice as we all pretty well stayed in our own tents until 9/9:30 just doing our own thing. So, overall, we didn't have any beach weather (of course the only time it was nice enough to do that was the Friday morning while I was at home packing). Oh well, we still have the rest of summer to enjoy the nice weather, if the heat actually comes! Sidney is all better and is eating like a horse these days!! It's nice to actually see her eating food again.
Well, that's this post for now, and I have to do a few more, so signing off for this one! Till next time!
You can see how sick Sidney was! Poor little gal!! Glad to hear she's feeling better!! Hope everyone else is feeling better soon, too!!
ReplyDeleteCrummy about the vehicle mishaps, too. Sure hope it's the last of it for a bit! Ouch! At least camping was fairly relaxing, even if there was rain & babies vomiting. C'est la vie!
So sorry to hear your li'l munchkin's been so sick! She sure looks out of it in the picture of her lying on your bed. Poor wee soul!
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad to hear she's doing so much better and nothing bad happened vehicle-wise. God was watching over you!
